How we build value

From digitization to a full financial marketplace.

COPA follows a four-stage thesis. We don't build another isolated feature — we build infrastructure that compounds in value the longer an organization uses it.

1
Stage 1 · Live today
Digitize
Replace paper books, spreadsheets, and WhatsApp with one platform. Members, contributions, payouts, and compliance — digital from day one.
2
Stage 2 · Live today
Integrate payments
Every transaction flows through integrated rails — mobile money, bank transfers, and IremboPay — with full audit trails and reconciliation.
3
Stage 3 · Expanding
Credit scoring
Turn verified production, contribution, and payment data into credit infrastructure for banks, microfinance institutions, and specialized lenders.
4
Stage 4 · Near future
Financial marketplace
A full financial marketplace — savings, lending, insurance, investment products — accessible to every member through COPA.
In their words

Real organizations. Real members. Real change.

Getting started

From paper books to production-grade in four weeks.

We've onboarded organizations with 200 members and organizations with 7,000. The pattern is the same — a structured four-step deployment that gets you live without disrupting operations.

01

Discovery & sign-up

Book a discovery call. We review your organization's structure, member base, operations, and compliance requirements. You choose a plan and sign a service agreement.

Week 1 · ~3 hours of your time
02

Data migration

Our team imports your members, divisions, products, contracts, and historical records from whatever source — spreadsheets, paper, or another system. Every member gets NIDA-verified identity.

Weeks 1–2 · We handle the heavy lifting
03

Training & configuration

Your managers and staff go through hands-on training — in Kinyarwanda, English, or French. We configure payouts, payroll rules, compliance reports, and integrations to your operational model.

Weeks 2–3 · Tailored to your team
04

Go live & scale

You start recording contributions, running payouts, and generating reports on COPA. Our support team is on standby for the first 90 days. After that, you're running on operational infrastructure.

Week 4+ · 90 days of guided support included
The difference

What changes when you run on COPA.

Before COPA

Paper books & spreadsheets

  • ×Member records in notebooks — lost when pages tear or water damage hits
  • ×Payouts calculated by hand — arithmetic errors, disputes, and mistrust
  • ×Contributions tracked on loose paper — easy to falsify
  • ×Financial reports take days to compile — auditors flag inconsistencies
  • ×No audit trail — embezzlement goes undetected until too late
  • ×Members kept in the dark — trust erodes, participation falls
  • ×Tax compliance missed — penalties mount, RSSB contributions lapse
  • ×No access to credit — banks can't underwrite what they can't see
With COPA

One integrated platform

  • Every member has a verified digital profile tied to their national ID
  • Payouts auto-calculated with PAYE, RSSB, and bonuses. One click to disburse
  • Contributions captured at the source. Tamper-proof records. Real-time totals
  • Financial reports generated on demand. Regulator-ready. Audit-grade
  • Immutable audit trail on every transaction, payout, and governance event
  • Members see their data in real time via mobile app, SMS, or USSD
  • Daily RRA reports filed automatically. RSSB contributions aggregated
  • Verified data unlocks credit — loans from ComzAfrica, banks, and MFIs

For organizations

Run your organization like the modern institution it is.

Replace paper books, fragmented spreadsheets, and WhatsApp-based coordination with one integrated platform that grows with you — whether you're a cooperative, SACCO, savings group, association, union, or any member-driven entity.

From a 200-member ikimina to a 7,000-farmer tea cooperative to a professional association with national reach — COPA gives your leadership everything needed to run daily operations, stay compliant, pay members accurately and on time, and give your board the financial visibility to govern well.

  • Onboard members in bulk with NIDA-verified identities — works for coop members, SACCO savers, association members, union members, or any roster.
  • Capture production, contributions, dues, or shares in real time — whether via Bluetooth scales, mobile, SMS, or direct entry.
  • Calculate payouts, dividends, benefits, or disbursements automatically — with PAYE, RSSB, and statutory contributions handled natively.
  • Issue loans from your own funds or connect members to external lenders with full approval workflow and SMS repayment tracking.
  • Generate regulator-compliant reports for RCA, BNR, RRA, sector authorities, and your funders in one click.
For members

Your organization, in your pocket.

Check contributions, see what you're owed, track your savings, and access financial services — from your phone, from USSD, or from a web dashboard.

COPA puts every member in direct contact with their own data for the first time. Farmer checking production. SACCO saver checking interest. Association member checking dues status. Union member checking benefits. No more guessing, no more paperwork, no more wondering.

  • Check your contributions, production deliveries, dues, or earnings in real time via mobile app or USSD.
  • View your full EjoHeza pension savings history and contribution summary directly from your phone.
  • Receive SMS notifications for payouts, dues, loan repayments, and organization announcements.
  • Apply for loans backed by your contribution history — approvals based on data you already generate.
  • Access COPA from any phone via *907#. No smartphone required.
For banks, MFIs, and lenders

A distribution network with verified borrowers.

Reach hundreds of thousands of KYC-verified members across cooperatives, SACCOs, and associations — with contribution data, repayment capacity, and institutional trust already in place.

Traditional lending in Africa struggles with one problem: you can't underwrite a borrower you can't verify, deliver to, or collect from. COPA solves all three. Every member has a verified identity via NIDA. Every loan disbursement flows through mobile money rails we already operate. Every repayment is tracked against verified contribution and payout data.

  • Distribute loans through a live network of 1,718+ organizations serving 317K+ verified members across 30 districts.
  • Underwrite using production, contribution, and organization-level social collateral — not just consumer credit scoring.
  • Disburse via mobile money and bank rails already integrated into COPA — same-day origination.
  • Collect repayments directly from member payouts or dues with webhook-based tracking and audit trail.
  • Partner with COPA through white-label embedded lending or direct API integration.
For government and regulators

Digital public infrastructure for the membership economy.

A regulator-aligned data controller with verified compliance, formal agreements with national systems, and Rwanda-hosted infrastructure.

COPA operates as a private platform integrated into national digital public infrastructure — serving as a channel between government systems and the membership economy at scale. The ICT ministry's endorsement, the NIDA data-sharing agreement, the NCSA data controller registration, and the official RSSB aggregator status reflect a deliberate commitment to sovereign-aligned, compliance-native operation.

  • Registered Data Controller with the National Cyber Security Authority (#001/1935/0825).
  • Formal data-sharing agreement with NIDA for member identity verification.
  • Official RSSB aggregator status for EjoHeza pension savings, with ministerial endorsement.
  • Daily X and Z tax reports filed automatically to RRA EBM from every registered organization.
  • Rwanda-hosted infrastructure and a reporting layer designed for ministry-level visibility across the sector.
For federations and development partners

Digitize entire networks at once.

Onboard every organization in your federation, union, or program through a single contract. Get institution-wide visibility. Run compliance, reporting, and funding programs at scale.

Federations like IABIRWA, FERWACOTHE, and FUCORIRWA use COPA to bring all their member cooperatives onto a single digital platform. The same model works for labor federations, professional bodies, and chamber networks. Development partners use COPA as implementation infrastructure for member digitization, climate adaptation, and financial inclusion programs.

  • Federation-wide contracts onboard entire networks — cooperatives, SACCOs, unions, or associations — in a single engagement.
  • Federation-level dashboards give leadership real-time visibility into every member organization's performance.
  • Program-specific modules support donor-funded initiatives — digitization, lending, input financing, climate programs.
  • Structured data exports for reporting to funders, ministries, and international bodies.
  • Co-designed deployments — we work with your team to meet your federation's specific operational needs.

Transaction revenue (shared across all tiers)

Pricing questions

Frequently asked about cost.

How does the per-member pricing work?
On Standard and Pro tiers, you pay a monthly base fee (29,000 or 39,000 RWF) plus 100 RWF per active member per month. A cooperative with 500 members on the Standard tier pays 29,000 + (500 × 100) = 79,000 RWF/month. Inactive members (not logged in or transacted for 6+ months) don't count toward the active member fee.
Are there setup or onboarding fees?
No. The base monthly fee includes everything — data migration, configuration, training, and the first 90 days of guided support. We don't nickel-and-dime during onboarding.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. COPA is month-to-month. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. We'll provide a complete export of your data within 14 days of cancellation.
Do federations get volume pricing?
Yes. Federations onboarding 10+ cooperatives, SACCO networks, or multi-org programs get meaningful volume discounts. Contact sales for a federation-wide quote.
Who pays the per-member fee — the organization or the members?
The organization. Members never pay to use COPA. The 100 RWF per active member per month is paid by the cooperative, SACCO, or association itself — typically out of operational funds, subscription income, or cross-subsidized by transaction revenue.
What currencies do you accept?
Rwandan Francs (RWF) primarily. International partners can pay in USD via wire transfer. We do not currently accept credit cards — payments are via bank transfer or mobile money (MoMo, Airtel Money).
What about the transaction fees?
Transaction fees only apply when you actively use specific services. For payment processing via COPA, we charge 0.5–1%. For external loans we originate through partners like ComzAfrica, we earn 5–15% revenue share (paid by the lender, not your organization). If you run everything internally — internal savings, internal lending — there are no transaction fees beyond your base tier.
No credit card required

HomeCompany

Built by Rwandans. For every member-driven organization.

We are a team of entrepreneurs, engineers, and operators from Rwanda building the operating system for the membership economy. Here's our story, our commitments, and how to reach us.

Our story

A mission shaped by cooperation.

We are a team of entrepreneurs, engineers, and operators from Rwanda — deeply familiar with the unique challenges and opportunities of managing member-driven organizations. We started with agricultural cooperatives because that's where the pain was sharpest. We've seen firsthand the transformative power of cooperation on rural livelihoods, and we've seen firsthand how paper books, fragmented spreadsheets, and informal record-keeping hold organizations back.

Driven by a belief in the power of community, we've embarked on a mission to harness technology to empower every organization built on membership. Cooperatives are our anchor — but the same problems show up in SACCOs, ikimina savings groups, professional associations, unions, alumni networks, chambers of commerce, religious organizations, and clubs. Our platform brings member management, contributions, payouts, accounting, lending, institutional savings, and compliance into one coherent system that works for all of them.

We are Alibaba eFounders Fellowship alumni (Class #1 Africa) and 250 STARTUPS graduates, supported by RISA, ICT Chamber, and the Government of Rwanda. We operate from Norrsken House Kigali, a short walk from the cooperatives, ministries, and partners we serve every day.

Common questions

You have questions. We have answers.

The questions we hear most from organizations, federations, banks, and government partners. Something else on your mind? Reach out directly.

I don't run a cooperative. Does COPA work for my organization?
Yes — almost certainly. COPA was built for cooperatives first, but the underlying platform works for any organization that tracks members, collects contributions or dues, runs payouts, and reports to a base. SACCOs, ikimina savings groups, VSLAs, professional associations, trade unions, alumni networks, chambers of commerce, religious organizations, sports clubs, and NGOs with membership structures all run on COPA. The core modules translate directly. Terminology and a few workflow specifics get configured to your organization type during onboarding.
How long does it take to onboard an organization to COPA?
Four weeks is our standard timeline for a full deployment — including data migration, training, configuration, and go-live. Smaller organizations with simple operations can be live in as little as two weeks. Larger organizations with complex structures may take six weeks. The first 90 days of support are included.
Do we need smartphones and internet for every member?
No. COPA is designed for the reality of rural Rwanda. Members access their data through whatever channel works — a smartphone app, a basic feature phone via USSD (*907#), or SMS notifications. Offices need internet for administrative operations, but field operations via CopaWeigh work offline and sync when connectivity returns.
Is our data safe? Who has access?
COPA is a registered Data Controller with the National Cyber Security Authority (#001/1935/0825). Your data is hosted on Rwanda-based infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest, and accessible only to staff you explicitly authorize with role-based permissions. Every access is logged. We comply with the 2021 Rwanda Data Protection Law and operate under formal data-sharing agreements with NIDA.
Can members access loans through COPA?
Yes. COPA supports two lending models. Internal loans are issued from the organization's own funds through a built-in approval workflow. External loans come from partners like ComzAfrica and connected banks — underwriting is based on your verified contribution data, not traditional consumer credit scoring. Repayments are tracked automatically.
What languages does COPA support?
The platform is fully available in Kinyarwanda, English, and French. SMS notifications and training materials are delivered in the member's preferred language. Customer support operates in all three.
We're a federation — can we onboard all our member organizations at once?
Yes. This is one of our most common engagements. Federations like IABIRWA, FERWACOTHE, and FUCORIRWA use COPA to bring all member cooperatives onto one platform through a single contract. Federation leadership gets network-wide dashboards. Each individual organization gets its own private workspace within the platform.
Can we integrate COPA with our existing systems?
Yes. COPA exposes both REST and GraphQL APIs for partner integrations. Banks, MFIs, government agencies, and enterprise partners can pull verified data — member records, contribution history, payout data — with proper authorization and audit logging. Custom integrations are scoped during your discovery call.
What happens to our data if we stop using COPA?
Your data is yours. At any point, you can export your full dataset in structured formats (Excel, CSV, JSON). If you decide to leave COPA, we provide a complete export package within 14 days and retain nothing. No lock-in.
